Choosing the Right Cycling Bicycle is not so Simple

In the last couple of decades a major shift has been happening in transportation. More and more people are leaving the car behind in favor of the bicycle, in the west the car reigned supreme but we are now seeing a growth in popularity of the bike. Perhaps this because the last couple of decades have seen a major shift in the popularity of “living green.” Maybe it is because the cost of gas is just too high. No matter what has caused it, the fact is there are now more cyclists on the road than in a long while. Have you been tempted to use a bike for your everyday transport needs? If you have been thinking about using a bike as your main mode of transportation, or just thinking about getting one for fun, there are a few things you need to think about.

We’d be misleading you if we didn’t admit that fashion does impact your decision. Our preferences are reflected in color and style choices. When choosing your bike you shouldn't ignore them. Using style and fashion preferences as your main criteria is silly, unless you are only getting a bike to look good. Excellent safety and comfort should be the first criteria met by your new bike. After ensuring both safety and comfort, see which ones you like the actual design of best.

Don't ever make the purchase until you have tried the bicycle out. Take it around the block if you can to make sure that it's worth the money and it's right for you. This makes perfect sense because you know you'd never buy a car without test driving it first.

So why wouldn't this apply to buying a bicycle? You need to do this especially if you are spending a lot of money on a bike that you know you will use for a long time. You need to make sure the bike is additional resources going to 'fit' you. This doesn't only mean physically fit you, this also means one that easily fits your riding styles. You wouldn't want to spend your hard earned money on something that isn't comfortable, would you?

Just exactly how many gears do you think you’ll use? Traveling through flat areas requires far less gears than riding in a mountainous area. You can’t evaluate the bike only by the number of gears it has. You may never even get around to using all the available gears. It’s a waste of money to pay for all those unused gears. If your bike is going to be the main means of travel for you, you absolutely must get the number of gears you need for the situations in which you’ll ride.

The options and technologies available for biking are overwhelming as you search for a new bicycle. From fashion to safety, you have a multitude of choices to make. Feeling a little defeated at the outset of choosing your new bike is normal. You can rest assured that by doing minimal research into your options, you’ll make the perfect decision for you.

Before heading out to the store, learn a little bit about the available choices. It’s the best answer for easier shopping.
